A Message from the Brent Schools Inc. Board of Trustees

A Message to the Brent Community
from Brent Schools Inc. Board of Trustees
March 21, 2024
The Brent Board of Trustees would like to express our deepest gratitude to Mr. Dick B. Robbins for his 34 years of service to Brent International Schools and to further congratulate him on the occasion of his retirement.
Mr. Robbins started as a substitute teacher in 1989 at the former Brent Pasig campus. He later served as Lower School Master and Director for Student Activities and in 1995 became the Brent Manila Headmaster. Mr. Robbins spearheaded the building of our current Manila campus and went on to serve simultaneously as Headmaster for Brent Manila, Brent Baguio and Brent Subic as well as President of Brent Schools Inc. It must be highlighted that he actualized the standardization of the three campuses, one school concept; ensuring the same quality of education under the Brent International School brand.
The Brent community has been truly fortunate to benefit from the visionary abilities of Mr. Robbins for the past 35 years. There are no words that can adequately express our gratitude for his countless sacrifices, devotion, and genuine love for the institution. Literally, Brent is Brent, because of the blood, sweat and tears of our beloved Mr. Robbins. The Brent family we enjoy today, is even stronger, closer, and looking forward to an even brighter future, thanks to the strong foundation laid down by Mr. Robbins’ steadfast dedication to the school. His presence will surely be missed, but his legacy will remain in the hearts of every student, faculty, and staff of our three schools until
eternity. May the good Lord continue to bless him and his family with a long and happy life filled with abundance and grace!
A multi-year transition has been in progress, and we now have Headmasters established for each Brent campus with a strong central management and administrative support team. When Mr. Robbins retires June 2024, Mr. Jason Atkins will step in to fill the duties of President for Brent Schools Inc. while continuing his duties as Headmaster of Brent Manila.
Mr. Atkins is in his 27th year with Brent, starting as an Upper School English teacher in 1997 at Brent’s Pasig campus. His children attended Brent from Nursery though graduation. He has served in positions including Head of Department, Director for Academic Affairs, Assistant Principal and Upper School Principal. Now, in his tenth year as Headmaster of Brent Manila, we have every confidence in Mr. Atkins’ ability to continue to lead and foster the special character of our diverse community.
Finally, we would like to thank the entire Brent Family of students, parents, staff, faculty and administration for your support. We are grateful for the role each of you has played in Brent’s illustrious 115-year-history, and we trust in God’s guidance as we look to the future.
Sincerely,
Brent Schools Inc. Board of Trustees

Author Visit – Martin Chatterton
As part of Literacy Week at Brent, March 18-22, 2024, our school was pleased to host visiting British/Australian author, Martin Chatterton on March 18. Students from kindergarten to tenth grade were captivated by his illustrations and engaging book talks. The enthusiasm and joy sparked by Mr. Chatterton’s visit will undoubtedly have a lasting impact on our students’ love for drawing and literature. Our thanks also to parents who delighted our Lower School students with book readings at lunch time.

WASC Accreditation Virtual Visit
We would like to express our deepest gratitude to every member of our school community who participated in Brent’s WASC (Western Association of Schools and Colleges) Mid-Cycle Accreditation Virtual Visit , March 3 – 5 2024. The insightful discussions and collaborative efforts with the experienced educators from California and China have helped us identify areas of growth and validate the progress we have made since the last visitation in 2020. With five commendations highlighting our areas of strength and one highlighted area for continued growth in Brent’s action plan, we are excited about our progress. Through these initiatives, we aim to empower our students, cultivate their passions, and equip them with the skills and knowledge needed to thrive in an ever-evolving world.
