Principal’s Message
First semester grades are out. Your child came home with a smile or with a worried look. Over the past few weeks, the school has been holding meetings with many of our underperforming students' parents and guardians. These meetings are viewed as opportunities to learn more about the student, home routines and study habits, to describe what we here at school see and to reach an agreement of sorts in moving forward together, home and school, in order to provide the supports necessary for the student to improve.
In the book "Doubling Student Performance," the authors refer to school and families setting ambitious goals for student performance. If students do not perform up to those “stretch goals,” then the school and family need to support the learner.
At Brent Subic we have extra-help classes regularly scheduled after school for students who may be struggling in a subject area or who want further clarification on a topic discussed in class. Please find the extra-help class schedule below and encourage your student to attend. Any student with a D grade or below is required to attend.

Parent-teacher conferences are scheduled for March 15. We hope that by this date the extra-help sessions have made a difference and the struggling student has turned the corner.
Our goal: to increase the learning of students who have struggled in the first semester and see them become more responsible for their learning in the third quarter.
Brent Subic would like to emphasize that students who are struggling do have options, and that the teachers do care immensely about student progress and will look relentlessly for ways to make learning happen.
Brent Subic an International Baccalaureate World School
Congratulations!!!
The International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO) recently recognized Brent International School Subic as a Diploma school. We will now offer the IB Diploma to students entering grade 11. It is a two-year program and upon completion of the rigorous academic and social awareness course work, students will earn an IB Diploma as well as the Brent Diploma. These two diplomas will open doors for our students into colleges and universities around the world. More importantly, we feel, along with the IBO, that the student will be prepared to live a life with a global perspective, ready to face any challenge head on, committed to serving others and staying true to one’s moral compass.
We would like to thank all of the faculty members who spent a great portion of their time last school year to prepare Subic to be a candidate school – and now an official IB Diploma school. Special thanks are due to Mr. Oviatt, who will be Subic’s first IB Coordinator!
The faculty and students are ready to embark on this exciting challenge.
Once again, a hearty congratulations to Brent Subic!
