Headmaster’s Update: End of School Year Modified Dates
Dear Brent Family,
As announced earlier, we will be finishing the year via our Home Learning Program. Recent increases in COVID numbers and corresponding protocols have also made it clear that any planned year-end assemblies will need to be held online. Much like last year, not holding these year-end events in person will allow the semester to conclude earlier without losing instructional time. Please note the following dates:
Upper & Middle School:
- Final Assessments End (Last Day of Classes): Tuesday, May 18
- Faculty In-Service and Make-Up Assessments: Wednesday, May 19
- Baccalaureate Service: Thursday, May 20
- Academic Awards and Moving-Up Day: Friday, May 21
- Graduation (Either In-Person or Virtual): Monday, May 24 at 5:00pm
Lower School (Nursery – Grade 5):
- Last Day of Class Tuesday, May 18
Account Clearance: Monday May 17 to Friday, May 21
Report Cards Released: Tuesday, May 25
Please gather all borrowed materials for return to the school and arrange to clear any outstanding balances during the clearance period to insure report cards and transcripts can be released in a timely fashion.
As always, your understanding and flexibility are appreciated. Our students have been producing remarkable quality work this year. Under challenging circumstances our students continue to shine. They are a credit to the school, their families and themselves.
Sincerely,
Mr. Brett Petrillo
Headmaster/Upper School Principal
Headmaster’s Update: 03/26/21
Dear Brent Family,
As we approach the last two months of this school year, we would like to update families and faculty about instruction through the end of May so that everyone can plan accordingly. Given the current quarantine guidelines, curfew, limits on entry to the Philippines and the government’s ongoing ban of in-person schooling, permission to open schools to in-person instruction this school year seems unlikely. Therefore, we will plan on completing 2020-2021 online.
We are ready to bring students back to campus when the time comes, and we will certainly consider taking advantage of any opportunity that might be given to hold limited on campus events or assemblies, but all classes and most activities for the remainder of this school year will continue online.
Looking toward August, the future remains unclear, but we hope the government will allow a transition to in-person classes at the beginning or soon after the start of the coming school year. Brent is also working to acquire vaccines for our employees to further ensure a healthy school environment.
It is truly a privilege to work with a community that has remained so positive and supportive throughout the many challenges of this pandemic. Thank you all for your continued kindness and understanding as we navigate these issues together.
Sincerely,
Mr. Brett Petrillo
Headmaster/Upper School Principal

Headmaster’s Update: 12/04/20
Good day Brent Family,
I wanted to take this moment to update you on the status of our Home Learning program moving into the holiday season.
It is now December, and we have no official word from the government on regulations for returning to in-person classes. With Christmas break approaching we feel it is important to give our families time to plan. The school will likewise need time to review any guidelines on returning to classrooms once those announcements are made. Furthermore, travel and family gatherings during the Christmas and New Year holidays increase the potential for spreading COVID-19, and make it prudent to include a time gap before any potential return to classrooms.
Therefore, all Brent schools have decided to continue with Home Learning after the Christmas break and have identified Monday, February 1, 2021 as the earliest possible date for returning to in-person instruction. Whether or not we actually do return at that time is still dependent on future government regulations.
As always thank you for your support and understanding during these times.
Stay safe and God bless.
Sincerely,
Mr. Brett Petrillo
Headmaster/Upper School Principal
What is IB DP?
Dear Grade 10 Parents and Students,
Good Day!
As we are halfway through the school year, it is one of the best times to learn and know more about the different tracks available for our students next year when they move up to Grade 11.
Brent Subic offers a unique and very enriching curriculum for our Grade 11 and 12 students, which is the IB Diploma Programme.
With this, I would like to invite you to please come and attend the IB information session for both parents and students. This will be on Thursday, November 26, 2020 from 7:45 to 9:00 in the morning through a Google Meet.
It is best that both parents and students come together to help you arrive at informed decisions when the time comes. This will be around April 2021 after we have spoken with the students one-on-one.
Agenda includes:
1. Tracks for HS graduation at Brent Subic
2. The IB Diploma Programme
3. The IB DP at Brent Subic
4. Timeline for choosing courses/preparing for Grade 11
5. Support System

I hope to see you there!
Warm regards,
Mrs. Sheila Marie M. Griarte
IB DP Coordinator
